Split Ends By Request?
One Act Plays Revealed...

While rehearsals for Beauty And The Beast
continue at a frantic pace as the opening night in September
steadily approaches, it occurs to us that just having one show
on the go just isn't enough. And with Who Goes Bare?
recently put to bed, it leaves a gap in the market just waiting
to be filled. Therefore, it is with great excitement that
we announce the launch of two one act plays to be performed in
the coming months - No Chocolates By Request and Split
Ends. These plays will be directed by newcomer
directors Aron Toman (recently seen as "Eddie" in Who
Goes Bare?) and Annette O'Shea ("The Wicked Witch Of
The West" in The Wizard Of Oz). "We're hoping to
give newcomers a chance" say the new directors. With only
a six week rehearsal period, the time commitment required from
the cast is very limited, which is perfect for those who feel
six months rehearsing a musical is too much. Or even those
who want to dip their toes into acting before taking the plunge
in one of the major productions. Or even for those who
want to show the world (or at least Gippsland) what they can do
given the chance to perform.
Split Ends and No Chocolates By Request
are, at this stage, planned to be entered into the South
Gippsland One Act Play Festival held in Foster in the second
weekend of August, with a special preview performance for LTC
members the week before, with hopes that the plays will continue
on the road after that. An information session where we
will be reading these plays will be held on Saturday June 13 at 2:00 PM at "The
Wings" Ronald Reserve Hall in Morwell, with auditions the
weekend after. Further details of the plays themselves are
available on the What's On page. For further information, please contact
Aron on 0417 506 881 or Annette on (03) 5122 1074.
See you all on Info Day! |

Who Goes Bare?

LTC's first production for 2009, Who Goes Bare?
is finished - everyone's clothes finally returned to them and
the cast needing to go bare no more. Despite a few bumpy
moments early on in the run (in which a hat spectacularly
shattered a glass on the stage with hilarious results), the show
has gone over very well with audiences.

The performances were generally praised by everyone, with
special praises frequently made to Kristina Creighton as
the ditzy maid Minnie (one avid theatregoer saying she gave the
best performance he'd seen on an amateur stage ever) and
James Evans as "Maxie Maudlin" and is series of nearly
impossible quick costume changes throughout the play leading to
a spectacular array of new and different characters every time
he made an appearance. But everyone involved did an
amazing job bringing some serious laughter and merriment to
those who saw it. Many finished the play wishing it didn't
have to end!
For those who were unable to see Who Goes Bare?,
a series of photos from the show are now available on the new
page dedicated to the show. And if you did see it - stay
tuned, because we'll have information regarding what's coming
next as far as non-musical productions go very shortly...

Once again, the Little Theatre in Traralgon was descended
upon by Latrobe Theatre Company as Who Goes Bare?
begins its intense week of dress rehearsals in preparation for
opening night this Friday.
The scaffolding for the complicated two-storey set is up and
the cast are slamming doors like crazy. With Richard
Tyler in the director's chair adding the final touches to
this funny farce, and production manager Dorette van Bruegel
with her team double checking that every sound effect, music
cue and lighting change happens with split-second timing.
Meanwhile the cast, lead by Aron Toman as Eddie
Manchip pour over their lines and run their scenes and face such
universal quandaries such as "can one look too much like a
sofa?" and "am I dressed at this point?" and most importantly,
how does one properly jump through a window? Tickets are
selling fast, so if you don't want to miss out, get in to the
Latrobe City Box office or call (03) 5176 3559.to get your
seats. Who Goes Bare? opens this Friday for two
weekends only! If you want a good laugh (or twenty) and a
really enjoyable evening, this is the show for you! Book

The Casts, They Are
A'Changin'...

It's funny in a way, how with two shows rehearsing
simultaneously that similar events can happen in both. It
is with some sadness that we announce that in both Beauty And
The Beast and Who Goes Bare?, the two production
teams have been forced to make some crucial cast adjustments...
In Beauty And The Beast, Kate Taylor has had to
step down from the role of Mrs Potts due to personal reasons.
To fill the role of the famous dancing teapot, Denise Twite,
who has been in various LTC productions over the years including
Fiddler On The Roof as Fruma Sarah and Into The Woods
as Cinderella's Mother, has stepped up from the ensemble.
According to the production team, the choice between Kate and
Denise for the role of Mrs Potts was very close indeed, and
while it's regrettable that Kate has had to withdraw, Denise
will certainly deliver the goods. Or at the very least,
pour the tea.
Meanwhile, in the Who Goes Bare? cast, John Lord,
who was originally playing the part of the Police Seargent has
had a heart attack (no doubt brought on due to the increasing
nudity appearing in this play!). Michelle Linahan
has graciously agreed to step into the role with incredibly
short notice with just over three weeks until opening night.
Michelle, who has for the past few weeks been prompting the cast
at rehearsals, we last seen on stage in Break A Leg Theatre
Group's Thriller Of The Year, but is no stranger to
Gippsland theatres, having been Assistant Director in Fiddler
On The Roof and Break A Leg's No Sex Please, We're
British and was recently Chair of Gippsland Associated
Theatre Inc. As the police sergeant, Michelle is sure to
bring some order to the rest of the Who Goes Bare? cast,
though we have yet to hear whether she will be playing the role
as a "he" or a "she". Either way, Michelle will definitely
do a fine job! Well done sir! Or ma'm, as the case
may be. Don't forget, tickets for both shows are on
sale now. Who Goes Bare? tickets can be purchased from the
Latrobe City Box Office or on (03) 5176 3559, whereas Beauty
And The Beast tickets are available from the West Gippsland
Arts Centre or (03) 5624 2456 and
www.wgac.org.au. Book
now to avoid disappointment! |
